| Flaxseed Oil |
The old saying "fat is bad" is not true. In fact, there are good fats and
bad fats. The good fats (Essential Fatty Acids) are essential to life
itself, not to mention optimal muscle and fat metabolism. The bad fats
(saturated fats) do not play an important role in the body at all except to
be burned as energy. Saturated fat is found in butter, cheese, beef to name
a few. A diet high in saturated fat can lead to health problems like heart
disease, cancer, etc., not to mention the probability of gaining body fat.
One of the main roles EFA's perform is as a structural component of all cell
membranes. EFA's have also been shown to cause a decrease in total serum
cholesterol and an increase in HDL (good cholesterol). EFA's have also been
known to accelerate fat loss. Basically, EFA's may be fat burning,
anabolic, anti-catabolic, anti-inflammatory and may improve your health.
Flaxseed Oil is predominantly one of the most well know and abundantly used
EFA's today.
